Friday, September 20, 2019

-Tell us about your racing background and how you ended up at the Lucas Oil Regional Series:

This is my 3rd year racing my Polaris RZR170. 2017 was my first year racing. My first year I raced the stock 170 class in Dirt Series and I won 2nd place in that championship. It was until 2018 when I started racing Worcs Racing, BITD, UTV World Championship, SST, and Lucas Oil Regionals. I love to race! Desert is really fun to race on long tracks. I have loved racing since I was 4 years old! I started attending the nationals and really enjoyed seeing the big guys racing the Pro 4 so I wanted to try shortcourse. That's how I started to race Lucas regionals. Last year I finished 2nd in the Worcs racing championship, 5th at the Lucas Oil Regionals, 2nd in UTV World Championship, 1st at Robby Gordon SST, 1st at the Lake Elsinore grand prix, and this year 2019 I won the Parker250 (Winter Nationals)!

-Family seems to play a big role on most regional teams and we see your family at the track with you at every round. How important is your family to your success and what roles do each of them play on race weekends?

My family is everything to me! They are the best! We are a family team and I'm so lucky to have them on board. They support me 100%! My little brothers are always cleaning my tires and and helmet. Mom is always helping my dad with the car and making the most delicious snacks before and after every race. My grandparents are one of my biggest sponsors. Dad is my mechanic, spotter and piggy bank. I'm a lucky kid with a rad family! I love them so much!

-What is your advice to someone looking to start out in short course off road racing?

I would definitely recommend trying!! It is a mix of different things. There is a lot of action and adrenaline, even in a short race like the RZR 170 that is only 10 laps. Short course is super fun for drivers and spectators. In short course everyone can see your whole race from one spot which is really fun! So come and race with us!

-What is your favorite track and why?

Definitely Glen Helen without a doubt! It’s where I grew up racing motorcycles, racing desert and now short course! The short course track is amazing! I love all the smooth jumps and all the corners are just perfect. I love the recent changes, they make it more fun!

-When you're not at the track, what can we find you doing?

For sure you can find me playing with my brothers and fixing their toys or inside the garage where the magic happens! We have lots of things happening there right now. We are working on the new RZR170 and I can't wait to race it! I love engines. I really have a passion for them so I spend a lot of time watching videos too!

-How much time/work goes into preparing for each race weekend?

A lot! We begin to work on my car after every race and we finish before the next one! It requires a lot time but it is part of the fun! After every race we check my times in the mycrons, check belts, clutch, etc. Then during the week we go to an open space and try new things. We keep working till the next race! If you want to be on top of the box you need to put a lot of time there!

-What/who is your biggest challenge on the track?

I would definitely say myself! I challenge myself to be faster and faster every race. I study the track with my dad so I can be ready before every race. Everybody here is hard to beat as we are all running and finishing in the same minute. I love to battle with all the racers here!

-Any goals for the next few years or beyond?

Yes! I have a lot of goals: I want to win a championship and I want to keep building my race career. I can't wait to see my two little brothers behind the wheels. I want to shape the road for them! I see myself in the future racing a pro4 and for sure some desert. I can't wait to race some Baja too! And of course in school I want to keep good grades and stay on honor roll.

-We know it takes a lot of support to race and you seem to be backed by some great companies. Is there anyone you would like to thank for their support?

A lot of people: First of all my parents for supporting me in this awesome journey, thank you so much! Also GSP, GONZALES FAMILY, TROPHY BURRO,CORONA MOTORSPORTS,WALKER EVANS, SPROCKET SPECIALIST, GATES G FORCE, ANTIGRAVITY BATTERIES, HOK9, SHELBY ANDRESON,GBC,PCI RADIOS,PEP PERFORMANCE TUNING and STRADA WELDING. Thank you everyone for all the help and support as without you guys none of this would be possible!
