Hot Laps: Mini Open Driver Brian Cannon

Tell us about your racing background and how you ended up at the Lucas Oil Regional Series: My 1st race was in 2001 in Mexico at Estero Beach. After that I was hooked! I’ve raced multiple series from ROR, Mickey Thompson SXS, CORR, Offroad Grand Prix, Glen Helen cup, VORRA, Arizona Short Course Championship, to the Lucas Oil Regionals of both CA & AZ when it first began.

Hot Laps: Cory Winner

Tell us about your racing background and what brought you to the Lucas Oil Regional Series: I went to my first short course race at Chula Vista in 2006 when CORR was still around. My dad’s company Fabtech was one of the series sponsors and sponsored Rick Huseman for a few years so after that point we were always at the races scraping mud off of Rick’s Pro4! When Trophy Karts came out, my brother and I got JR.1 karts. He finished 2nd and I finished in 3rd in the championship. I raced those for a couple years and raced Mod Kart for 1 year. Last year I made the jump into Prolite and decided to run the Lucas Oil Regional series so I could get valuable seat time and get used to that class of racing.

Hot Lap: Matt Land

Tell us about your racing background and how you ended up at the Lucas Oil Regional Series: I started racing karts on pavement when I was 5 years old and started racing Outlaw karts on dirt when I was 13. My dad accidentally bought a midget on Ebay (at least that is what he told my mom), so at 14 I started racing it around Northern California. At 16 we sold the midget and bought a 360 Sprint Car. We raced that for 4 years and had a lot of fun. We saw Short course off road on TV and wanted to check it out. We went to our first race in Lake Elsinore in 2014 right before I went into the Fire Academy. While I was in the fire academy we sold the Sprint car stuff and started looking around. We met Jason and Corry Weller and bought an SR1 in 2015.

Hot Lap: Kyle Knott

Tell us about your racing background and how you ended up at the Lucas Oil Regional Series: Since I was little I’ve always wanted to race a Jr2 , but the funds weren’t there. I tried everything to get myself in to a Jr2, but my tactics didn’t work. When I was a little older I started going to the races with Ron Carter and helping him. My passion grew more and more for the sport, and then next thing you know my dad bought an old 1/2 1600 so I could start racing. I raced desert 1600, and I was pretty good at it. Then my dad bought me Bradley Morris’s old Raceco limited buggy.
